Fire Note Says: The Cars return with a energetic new take on their classic style.

Album Review:
Move Like This represents The Cars first studio album since 1987 and it is built out of all the original members minus late bassist Benjamin Orr. The record really does seem like it picks up where the band left off, as lead vocalist Ric Ocasek sounds remarkably the same and their similar synth structures emerge on every track. Move Like This does have an updated sound, as each track has a little modern indie rock undertone to it and the guitars seem to have a bit more punch. The band does seem to be reaching some in the songwriting department, as several tracks try too hard to be hip or cool and the ballads sort of fall flat. With that said, "Keep On Knocking" sounds fresh with Ocasek's perfectly timed sharp vocals falling right in line with the harmonies, edgy synth and harder drum beats. "Blue Tip" and "Sad Song" also benefit from this update to their traditional sound and song structures. The Cars do miss the vocal skills of Orr here, as he always added to their records, no matter if it was lead on big singles like "Drive" or singing the backing harmonies. Overall, longtime fans should love this record and even though it may not be their best work, it will play great live and it is still great to hear The Cars make a return to the airwaves.
