Fire Note Says: Mark Kozelek owns the stage on this excellent live recording that covers his career!

Album Review:
Live At Union Chapel & Södra Teatern is another superb addition to Kozelek's live albums that he has been releasing over the last several years and highlights his stage intensity, as these 16 tracks move from a starting simmer to an ending sizzle. This recording was taken from the 2010 European tour behind Sun Kil Moon’s Admiral Fell Promises [2010], and it features some of that records better tracks, as well as Red House Painters "Cruiser" and "Katy Song" plus a cover of Thin Lizzy's "Randolph Tango". The album is fairly lengthy, as it is almost an hour and half, but it never feels it as you take a listen because Kozelek's spot on smooth vocal delivery will pull you in without distraction. The crowd is very respectful during these hush moments and intricate songs but shows up nicely upon every tracks completion. Live At Union Chapel & Södra Teatern is still a release that mostly just fans will love but with its excellent quality it could easily grab new fans if the album would get in front of them. Mark Kozelek is showcased as a true consistent vocal talent here and in this concert setting you can not ask for a better stage performance as this recording ranks up there with his best!
