Urge OverkillRock&Roll Submarine
UO Records [2011]

Fire Note Says: An honest and solid return to form on new record after a 16 year hiatus for Urge Overkill.
Album Review:
16 years is a very long time but that is how long it has been since Chicago's Urge Overkill have released a new record and Rock&Roll Submarine breaks the drought. The band immediately picks up where they left off, as the singer-guitarists Nash Kato and Ed "King" Roeser sound as gritty as
they ever did and their darker musicianship cranks along here much like it did in 1995. Urge Overkill have always had a swagger to them, which I am sure that is why Quentin Tarantino picked their Neil Diamond cover "Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon" to appear in Pulp Fiction, but fast forward to Rock&Roll Submarine and you get the same in your face attitude. The album does suffer some because several tracks just don't deliver all the way through but overall Rock&Roll Submarine is a welcome back to the scene for Urge Overkill and should be sought out from the younger generation that never experienced their rock show the first time around. Let's just hope they work a little faster on the next one!Key Tracks: "Effigy", "Thought Balloon", "Mason/Dixon"
