Fire Note Says: Big D And The Kids Table show you why a little ska-punk never hurt anyone!
Album Review:
Ska-punk is breathing well on the new record from Big D And The Kids Table, as it gives you plenty of attitude, horns blaring, sing-a-long anthems and 18 reasons to grab a drink and raise them tall. With this length, Big D moves their wa
y through the different sub-genres in their own scene, as "Rotten" has a more Rancid style pace, while other tracks like "Destination Gone Astray" are right out of the 2-tone Madness songbook. The album is a bit lengthy as it crosses the 50 minute mark and could of used some editing, as the record lacks cohesion with its transitions even though many of the individual tracks are really tight. It is nice to hear a band like Big D And The Kids Table still staying true to the ska genre and with a little more refinement For The Damned, The Dumb & The Delirious would have have been a superb record. With that said, Big D And The Kids Table will still entertain any fan of the ska-punk scene because, at this point, it has been so underground that the quality found here shines as you pick out and crank each and every track.Key Tracks: "Modern American Gypsy", "Best Of Them All", "Good Looking"
