Fire Note Says:
The Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci releases his Big Talk debut that shows true promise.

Album Review:
Big Talk is the debut record from The Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci that gets the all star treatment, as it was produced by Joe Chicarelli (The Strokes, My Morning Jacket), and mixed by Alan Moulder (U2, Foo Fighters). Like other drummers before him, Vannucci steps out from behind the skins and puts his vocals to the test on these fairly straight forward classic rock sounding tracks. What Big Talk quickly taught me was to put your expectations in a box and forget about them because you might think Big Talk would be a electronic extension of The Killers or maybe a more subtle outing comparable to Killers frontman Brandon Flowers solo record Flamingo that released last year. Nope, Big Talk gives you a rock radio friendly outing that holds its own. The self-titled record does not reinvent rock or come up with anything new but honestly who cares. Big Talk is what it is, and that is an enjoyable, windows down, type of record that could play on any modern or classic radio station out there. At times, Big Talk has a more classic rock thing going on like Tom Petty on the memorable "Girl At Sunrise" or even a Cars type vibe on the catchy "The Next One Living". The key for Ronnie Vannucci is that he has successfully created a new band and identity that could go places if The Killers continue to tread water as Big Talk may live up to their name!

Key Tracks: "Getaways", "The Next One Living", "Girl At Sunrise"
