Fire Note Says: Punk is reborn from young Copenhagen band Iceage!

Album Review:
Iceage is a quartet made up of 18 and 19 year-olds from Denmark that play a style of punk which sounds well beyond their years. The group happens to be the current hype of the music Internet scene and after checking out their debut, New Brigade, you will know why.

The youthful attack here is pure and that is exactly what makes this debut so enthralling. The band is in no way your standard straight forward punk outfit, as the group cohesively brings these 12 tracks together under 25 minutes with working components of post-punk, emo, no wave, hardcore, metal and plenty of energy.

I don't know if Iceage is the salvation of punk but New Brigade sounds really fresh, current and hip. The songs get in and get out so fast that the listener does not have time to sit and dwell on the lyrics, song meanings or the bands intent. This is not a bad thing as its short nature adds to its majestic qualities.

With its tight song structures and quick rotation, you let this record rip through your speakers and then do it again. New Brigade is not only the record Iceage will be trying to live up to years from now but it also sets the bar crazy high for other groups in this genre and will for some time to come!

Key Tracks: "White Rune", "Remember", "You're Blessed"
