Fire Note Says: Bad Sports make punk, garage, and pop all be friends for their catchy sophomore outing Kings Of The Weekend!

Album Review:
Punk/garage trio Bad Sports comes at you from Denton, Texas with their sophomore record Kings Of The Weekend at a no holds barred pace that is loud, fun and just plain rowdy. The album is a quick 30 minutes of 14 songs that benefit from a clean production that really highlights all of the instruments including the vocals. This refinement separates out Bad Sports from other groups in the genre because as easy as it would have been to leave these tracks fuzzed out with muffled vocals it would have killed the pop undertone on Kings Of The Weekend that makes songs like "Teenage Girls" and "Can't Just Be Friends" super catchy. The other piece that drives Bad Sports is their ability to shift up the gears from mid tempo rockers to sheer punk attacks like on the hard hitting "Get My Head" that reminds me of some of the best ass kicking Supersuckers material. With Kings Of The Weekend, Bad Sports have made a memorable sophomore record that should not only put their name on the map of garage rock enthusiasts but is strong enough to capture the current hipsters on the indie scene. I am sure Bad Sports does not care so much about which groups hear their record but I am betting tons of indie kids will!

Key Tracks: "Teenage Girls", "I'm In Love With Myself", "Days Of Denton"
