The Bottle Rockets: Not So Loud - An Acoustic Evening

The Bottle Rockets
Not So Loud: An Acoustic Evening
Bloodshot Records [2011]

Fire Note Says: Come spend a solid acoustic night with The Bottle Rockets!

Album Review:
Not So Loud was recorded in an acoustic setting at a 19th century schoolhouse in The Bottle Rockets home town of St. Louis. The record reworks many of their favorites in this very intimate setting. The band has always been known for their electric performances but what you get here is a dynamic set of songs that covers their catalog and gets stripped down. You realize quickly that in this moment the band have totally put their heart and sweat behind performing. The band takes time to tell stories about songs, like how "Perfect Far Away" involved seeing Dolly Parton and the fun banter with the crowd before "Rural Route" shows just how relaxed The Bottle Records are here with their fans. The Bottle Rockets have been around for a good while now and this live recording showcases their veteran status. There is nothing on this record that will build a new fan base but longtime fans should eat this up!

Key Tracks: "Gravity Fails", "1000 Dollar Car", "Kerosene"
