A.A. Bondy: Believers

A.A. Bondy
Believers
Fat Possum Records [2011]

Fire Note Says:
A.A. Bondy returns with his third record of atmospheric Americana that represents his best!

Album Review:
Believers is the third record from A.A. Bondy and it showcases a lesson in how you can create such a big sound without ever raising your voice. Bondy's hush type vocal returns here with his atmospheric type of Americana that is both engaging and enchanting. His smooth and commanding delivery is what makes Believers such a strong release, as his songwriting just keeps getting better which makes repeat plays a must. Believers is the type of record that does not necessarily have just one stand out track but as you let the album play through, each and every song raises the bar. After the opening charge of "The Heart Is Willing", Believers settles in and lets each instrument emerge with a subtle gracefulness. Everytime the piano or organ appears it makes a statement just like pedal steel on "DRMZ". Each song is its own intimate setting and Bondy is your tour guide. Believers is a grower that deserves time and attention. It is an album that only gets better the more time you give it and represents A.A. Bondy's best release to date!
