Fire Note Says: Another must have staple in Tommy Keene's catalog!
Album Review:
Tommy Keene's style of power pop never tires and on his ninth studio record, Behind The Parade, he brings more of the catchy guitar rock he is known for in top notch style. Songs like "Already Made Up Your Mind" and the title track are classic Keene from the memorable choruses to the thoughtful penned lyrics. Behind The Parade does bring some surprises to the table, like the horn
induced opening track "Deep Six Saturday" and the somewhat odd atmospheric instrumental intermission song "La Castana". The horns work well with the guitar and give the song depth, while the almost 6 minute synthesized instrumental track feels out of place and actually was a big distraction for me. Of course, the standard Keene picks right back up and album closer "Lies In My Heart" will not only have you quickly singing along but also reaching for the repeat button once Behind The Parade comes to a close. Tommy Keene will continue to be an unsung hero of guitar power pop, as Behind The Parade once again backs up this claim but for fans, this record is what you expect and should be a must to a add to your collection!Key Tracks: "Deep Six Saturday", "Lies In My Heart", "Already Made Up Your Mind"
