WU LYFGo Tell Fire To The Mountain
L Y F Records [2011]

Fire Note Says: WU LYF have created a sonically engaging debut that should be remembered when we make our best of list this year!
Album Review:
As a critic, I am always looking for a record to wow me with its presence, swagger and replay value. The debut from WU LYF (pronounced "Woo Life" and stands for "World Unite! Lucifer Youth Foundation") meets all of the above criteria, as they are a band from Manchester, England that captures an addictive and timeless indie rock here that will completely engulf your
surroundings. The band comes armed with echoing guitar, buried vocals, rolling drums and plenty of sonic "moments" that just stick in your head. It is a bit odd because you need to concentrate immensely on what Ellery Roberts is even singing but with the aide of his band, the pieces just fit perfectly. The rock ballad "14 Crowns For Me & Your Friends" can elicit swaying even though WU LYF is too cool for that, while the over 6 minute "We Bros" is sprawling and engaging as it builds with intensity then drops to quiet and then builds up again. These types of song structures is exactly what makes Go Tell Fire To The Mountain one of the better releases of this year. It is a record that can play morning, noon and night, while sounding giant but yet making you feel like they are in you living room. WU LYF's debut should be checked out as Go Tell Fire To The Mountain will have you wanting more after just one track while giving you plenty of reasons to keep coming back for all ten!Key Tracks: "We Bros", "Dirt", "L Y F"
