Album Review:
J. Robbins and angular indie rock go hand and hand and just like some of his earlier groups, Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Channels, Office Of Future Plans brings together a talented group of musicians and provides a solid 40 minute listen. At 44, you might think Robbins would go in a different direction but Office Of Future Plans brings his instantly recognizable vocals right at you while supplying swirling guitar harmonics that form the edgy song structures. Office Of Future Plans does have its own identity, as the songs possess an undertone of maturity that comes with experience, contains quick tempo changes that are complimented by strings and has plenty of soaring vocals from Robbins that go from 1 to 10 and back again in seconds. Basically, if you have been a fan of any of J. Robbins work, Office Of Future Plans is a must listen. If you are new to his output then not only will this record be a great introduction but then you should immediately head back to Jawbox and start your lesson!
