Kishi BashiRoom For Dream EP [Vinyl Reissue]
Joyful Noise Recordings [2012]
Fire Note Says: The bonus track alone is worth the price of admission!
Album Review:
We told you about the stellar new full length 151a from Kishi Bashi back in April and now Joyful Noise has reissued his debut EP Room For Dream on a cool looking limited to 500 hand numbered 10" vinyl that was originally released on CD only back in May of 2011. This new version contains the original track listing offering early versions of 151a favorites "Manchester" and "Bright Whites" along with the catchy "Evalyn, Summer Has Arrived" that features Of Montreal's Kevin Barnes.
The real treat here beyond the cool looking vinyl is the bonus track "Unicorns Die When You Leave" which is an outtake from the 151a recording sessions. It once again possesses the Brian Wilson type of sing along harmonies that made 151a special and is the perfect new closer to an already solid EP. I do wonder how this track was cut from the full length as its upbeat tempo and memorable chorus would have only made 151a stronger. Regardless, it is a great song to have added onto Room For Dream and now gives the EP a nice 20 minute running time.Well - if you like vinyl and have got on board with Kishi Bashi hurry up and snag this reissue release before it sells out. If this EP is your first taste of Bashi, I guarantee that it will drive you right to his full length debut and you will not be disappointed because the record is easily one of the better releases this year and probably is also one of the most under the radar which is gold if you love indie music!
