Fire Note Says: TSOOL final curtain call Throw It To The Universe brings their signature sound for one last round!

Album Review:
It has been 11 years since The Soundtrack Of Our Lives were in the big spotlight with a Grammy nod and a really stellar album in Behind The Music [2001]. Since then the band has released two records and now Throw It To The Universe marks TSOOL's sixth overall and apparently final album as lead singer Ebbot Lundberg has stated that Universe will be their last as he felt it completed the band's journey.

With that said Throw It To The Universe is a nice closing to a group that is known for their big hooks, interesting lyrics, and psychedelic 60s and 70s guitar rock. All of their staple elements exist here and should be enjoyed by fans new and old. The only problem I really have with Throw It To The Universe is that it fails to peak at critical moments and sounds like the band almost pulls back a bit on tracks as a move to conserve their indie cred instead of just belting it out and going for it as this is their last day in the sun.

That is not to say that TSOOL don't still bring quality as the opening title track gets it right as it has the bombastic chorus, building intensity and a cool funky outro that speeds up as it fades which shows off the style the band has always possessed. The retro rocker "Where's The Rock?" is right out of the Rolling Stones playbook and sounds nostalgically fresh and completely works. The rest of Throw It To The Universe brings back memories of the bands past catalog and is a solid listen even though it does not really bring much new to the table. It is definitely sad to see The Soundtrack Of Our Lives hang it up because they clearly still can put together a catchy tune but I would always recommend going back and checking out Behind The Music as it still is their pinnacle album and just like Throw It To The Universe secures their place in rock history!

Key Tracks: "Throw It To The Universe", "Where's The Rock?", "Faster Than The Speed Of Light"
